The event is the result of a public call that the Institute launched on April 15 and was an initiative of IBRAM. The organization was in partnership with the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Minas Gerais (CREA-MG), with support from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

On 6 June Siefko Slob and Salvatore Scervini gave a presentation on behalf of the I4 Dam Safety consortium, which was titled: “An integrated approach for geotechnical stability analysis and monitoring of tailing dam facilities”. The services provided by the companies that are part of the consortium were presented and the philosophy behind a proper analysis and monitoring of tailing dam facilities was explained by Siefko Slob. Salvatore Scervini presented the services and capabilities of sonic drilling for geotechnical sampling. Horizonte Mineiro is the first and until now the only company in Brazil that operates a sonic drilling rig.
